2006 Chrysler 300 Battery Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Battery Cable from the Battery to the Bulkhead on 2006 Chrysler 300?
A: Before touching the battery cable, turn off the ignition and switch all electrical accessories to Off. With the spare tire cover out of the way, disconnect the battery negative cable (3) and afterward disconnect the battery positive cable (1). Take off the cover from the Power Distribution Center (PDC) and unplug the battery's positive cable from its fastener at the rear PDC (3). One by one, open the routing clips holding the positive battery cable in the rear, then pull up on the edge of the retainer loops for each seat to take them apart from the floor cups. After that, remove the lower trim panel from the right B-pillar and store the carpet off to the side so that you can find the battery's positive cable. Release each battery positive cable from the routing clips in the back seat one at a time and then move the bulkhead insulator aside to get to and unfasten the bulkhead fastener on their cable. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle, checking where it runs under the floor cross members. Lay the positive wire from the battery just inside the wheel well, pass it under the floor cross members, then secure it on top of the battery positive cable beneath the bulkhead. Route and connect the positive power cable to the clips in both areas at the rear seat and rear compartment, then coat in foam glue. Place the right B-pillar lower trim panel, right front and rear door sill trim panels and right rear seat cushion over the pins under the flooring. Push them down at the leading edge to engage the retainer loops into the floor cups. Put the right front seat in place, secure the battery positive cable to the PDC's rear fastener (3) and fit the PDC cover (5). After that, link the positive cable to the battery (1), the negative cable to the battery (3) and reinstall the spare tire cover.
