  A: The first step in thermostat service is to take off the air cleaner housing and then drain part of the cooling system. Separate the upper radiator hose, just making sure not to separate the thermostat housing and thermostat. Once you take out the retaining bolts from the thermostat housing, take out the thermostat and the entire housing unit. To install, secure the housing of the thermostat with its new O-ring, tighten all bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) and check that no air leaks from the housing. Attach the upper radiator pipe, add fluid to the cooling part, start the vehicle and verify if you see any leaks. After that, assess the coolant once more and change it if needed.
