2005 Chrysler Pacifica Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Left Exhaust Manifold on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before servicing the left exhaust manifold, first cut power by removing the negative battery cable, then disconnect the panel next to the radiator, the core support under it and the cooling fan assembly. Take your wrench and gently loosen the bolt holding the oil level indicator tube to get the dipstick out of the way. Then, take out the exhaust manifold crossover pipe bolts, the exhaust manifold bolts and throw away the gasket. Check the exhaust manifold for problems like cracks, if it is dented or warped and look for signs like discoloration or distortion on the gasket. It is also important to check the condition of the head mounting surface by running a straightedge and thickness gauge across it. To fit the exhaust manifold, add the gasket, secure it with bolts and tighten them in the middle, then at the outer areas to match 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). Put in the exhaust manifold crossover pipe retaining bolts and torque them to 31 Nm (275 inch lbs.). After moving the oil dipstick tube into place, install the retaining bolt and put back the radiator cooling fan assembly, radiator closure panel crossmember and radiator close out panel. After that, reattach the negative battery cable.
