2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Level Sensor on 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: You need to take out the fuel pump module before servicing the fuel level sensor. Pressing in the tab on the retainer allows you to disconnect it from the fuel pump/level sensor connector hidden below the module. The harness above the flange covering the pump module cannot be removed or serviced. Then, take out the wedge lock that holds the connector together. Pull off the sensor terminals using Special Tool C-4334 or find an equivalent. Push the tab and slide the sensor down inside the module until it comes out of its channel. While installing, introduce the wires into the channel located on the back of the level sensor. As you slide the wires into the slot on the device, raise the sensor until it snaps in position. To install the sensor wires, push them out of the connector first and then pull them out again until they are secure and wired correctly. Place the locking wedge into the connector, then push the connector up into the bottom of the fuel pump module electrical connector before securing the fuel pump module back in place.
