How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on Chrysler PT Cruiser?

To handle repairs for the fuel level sensor, the first step is to remove the fuel pump module. Press the retaining tab to unplug the fuel pump/level sensor connector from the bottom of the fuel pump module electrical connector. Pay attention that the top pump module harness on the flange cannot be removed. After that, take out the wedge lock that holds the electrical connector in place. Remove the level sensor terminal connectors with Special Tool C-4334 or a similar tool. Push against the tab and move the sensor to the bottom of the fuel pump module, then unseat the level sensor from the channel within the module. Wrap the wires into the groove at the back of the level sensor, then push the sensor into the channel, feeding the wire as you go, until a click tells you that it has latched properly. Lift the sensors into the connector housing and secure them in the correct position by pulling straight down. Finally, set the locking wedge in place, raise the connector up into the bottom of the fuel pump module electrical connector and place and lock the fuel pump module in place.
