2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Level Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Level Sensor on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: You should first take out the fuel pump module to service or repair the fuel level sensor. Push down the retaining tab so that the fuel pump/level sensor connector can be pulled free at the bottom of the fuel pump module electrical connector, since the harness above the flange is not serviceable or removable. Afterwards, open the wedge lock in the electrical connector and use either Special Tool C-4334 or an equivalent tool to get the terminals out of the level sensor connector. Take out the wire from the retainer, press the tab and open the sender card to slide the level sensor out of the channel in the module. Installation requires that you wrap the wires into the groove at the back of the level sensor as you feed them into the guide tracks. Slide the level sensor back until you hear it snap and the tab at the base remains secure. Put the wire into the wire retainer and connect the level sensor wires to the connector, pushing these wires upwards and then down to lock them in, making sure the signal and ground wires are correct. Set the locking wedge onto the connector, press the connector up into the bottom of the fuel pump module's electrical connector and then put the fuel pump module back in place.
