2005 Chrysler Sebring Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Crankshaft Seal on 2005 Chrysler Sebring?
A: You need to remove the transaxle and the flex plate before handling the main bearing seal for the crankshaft. Insert the curved flat end of the 3/16 screwdriver between the edge of the case and the crankshaft's dust lip, so that the edge does not touch the oil seal surface but could touch the crankshaft edge when you pry the seal out. Check the edge of the crankshaft for any burrs or scratches and clean them using 400 grit sandpaper to avoid doing harm to your engine. The seal should not be lubricated just before installation. Secure Special Tool 6926-1 Seal Guide onto the crankshaft and make sure the seal's lip is facing the crankcase as you set it in place. Slide Special Tool 6926-2 to drive the seal into the block and continue pushing with handle C-4171 until the tool touches the bottom of the block. After the seal is installed, apply Mopar(R) Lock & Seal Adhesive to the bolt threads and tighten the flex plate down to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.), lastly reinstalling the transaxle.
