2004 Chrysler Sebring Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Crankshaft Seal on 2004 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before working on the crankshaft main bearing seal, first remove the transaxle and the flex plate. Take a 3/16 flat bladed screwdriver and insert it between the dust lip and the case part, so that it does not touch the seam. Before fitting the seal, inspect the edge of the crankshaft and rub it with sandpaper of 400 grit to avoid any potential harm while installing. You don't need to add lubrication to the seal during installation. The Special Tool 6926-1 Seal Guide is put onto the crankshaft before placing the seal over its head so the seal's lip is pointing towards the crankcase. Gently guide Tool E3898 into the block with Special Tool 6926-2, turning the Tool C-4171 until the long portion of the tool fits firmly against the block without pushing the seal past flush. With the seal in place, glue the flex plate bolts with Mopar Lock & Seal Adhesive and fasten them to 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.), secure the transaxle and start the engine, letting it idle until cool.
