2005 Dodge Caravan Engine Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the NGC Controller and Replace the Engine Control Module on 2005 Dodge Caravan?
A: It is important to relax the vehicle for at least 320 km (200 miles) after it is first driven before replacing the Pcm, to prevent the idle speed from being reduced by the service. To avoid setting a Diagnostic Trouble Code (Dtc), you should update the mileage and vehicle identification number (Vin) in the new Pcm using the Drbiii(R) scan tool when you replace the Pcm after this mileage. You should begin by turning the wheels to the left and then disconnect the negative battery cable. Support the vehicle and then take off the splash shield hiding the left front wheel well. Undo the electrical connections from the Pcm and remove the three screws that keep the unit in place and then remove the Pcm. To install the new module, mount it on the bracket, reconnect the special electrical connections and restore the old splash shield. Lower the car and then attach the negative battery cable once more. Lastly, use the Drbiii(R) scan tool to enter both the mileage and Vin into the Pcm. If your vehicle has Skim, also use a secret key transfer, as otherwise, the car won't start.
