How to Maintain and Fix a Rear Door Striker on 2005 Dodge Dakota?

Before anything else, mark the spot where the striker is with a grease pencil so it is easy to reinstall. NB: The striker is a fixed part and does not need to be removed. Before tightening, simply place the door latch striker on the vehicle and insert the two screws, just not all the way in. Reinsert the door latch striker at the marks made earlier and tighten the screws enough so that the instrument reads 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). If you find that the door doesn't latch properly, adjust the striker as required.
