  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Battery Tray on 2005 Dodge Durango?
    A: Before servicing or repairing the battery tray, first detach the battery cables, remove the thermal guard, hold down and battery from the tray. After that, remove the bolts securing the battery tray in the front, extract the right front wheel and wheel assembly and take out the right front wheelhouse splash shield. After that, remove the bolts holding the lower battery tray and take off the electrical clips at the battery tray, along with the battery temperature sensor. Finally, remove the battery tray from where it is in the vehicle. While installing, verify that the battery tray is clean and check it once again, reinstall the tray in the vehicle and connect the lower bolts, tightening them up to 12.4 Nm (110 in. lbs.). Put in the right front wheelhouse splash shield and wheel and tire assembly. Set the battery temperature sensor onto the battery tray, tighten the push-down bolts that hold it, attach the upper bolts on the fender frame at 12.4 Nm (110 in. lbs.) and set the battery on the tray. Afterward, add the battery hold down and bolt, secure it, refit the thermal guard and plug in the battery cables again.
