- Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Wiper Arm on 2005 Dodge Neon?A: Start by parking the wiper arm and turning off the ignition when servicing and repairing it. Carefully lift the arm cap away from the post using either a trim stick or an equivalent tool. Grab the wiper arm retaining nut and remove it, then pull the arm off the swivel by pushing it away with a rocking movement as it's held in an overcentered area. Take care of any metal splinters attached to the pivot shafts. Ensure the wiper's module PARK position is selected and change the motor if needed, then put the wiper arms so that the heel of the wiper blades rests along the park line on the windshield. Make sure the pivot shafts are clear of metal chips again, then rock the arm toward you in an over/centered position as you insert it onto the pivot. Put the retaining nut onto the wiper arm and torque it to 19.7 - 21.5 Nm (175-190 in. lbs.). After that, add the arm nut cap, move the wiper arm/blade in the sweeping motion and confirm it stops at the PARK position before turning off the ignition.
