2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Cruise Control Servo on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before handling the cruise control servo, disconnect the negative battery terminal and, for a diesel car, also disconnect the positive terminal. Take off the plastic wheel-house splash shield over the left-front tire to access the servo. First, remove the vacuum hose from the servo and remove the electrical connector too. Unscrew the three screws that hold the servo in place and again examine the proper lugs to identify which support the servo to the battery tray for your engine type. Deconnect the servo cable from the throttle body and then remove both mounting nuts connecting the sleeve to the bracket. Slide the speed control cable sleeve and servo outwards from the mounting bracket to reveal and remove the cable retaining clip. Loosen the servo from its place on the bracket and pay attention to its position in the process. During setup, fix the servo to the bracket, make sure the holes line up in the cable and servo parts and snap on the retaining clip. Slot the servo mounting studs into the brass mounting bracket holes and use two nuts to tighten each stud until it reaches the proper torque. Put the servo into place on the battery tray at the correct spots and then secure it in place using three screws, fastening them to the suggested torque level. First, link the vacuum line and electrical connector to the servo and afterwards, run the servo cable through to the throttle body. Reattach the left-front wheel-well liner and reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery, remembering to put both of the cables back if the vehicle is diesel. Before you crank the engine, push the accelerator pedal to make sure it doesn't have any difficulties.
