2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2005 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before servicing or repairing the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley, get rid of the accessory drive belt. Once that's done, remove the four damper to crankshaft bolts and then carefully lift out the damper and speed indicator ring. Check the damper hub for any splits and change it if you notice any. Make sure there isn't any wear on the rubber in the damper and that the index lines on the hub and inertia member are no more than 1.59 mm apart, otherwise replace the damper. Start by sitting the speed indicator ring over the dowel pin, add the crankshaft damper and connect with the bolts, finishing with tightening to 40 Nm plus an additional 60°. Put the damper in place so the hole matches the dowel pin and next put back the accessory drive belt.
