2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Harmonic Balancer and Crankshaft Pulley on 2006 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before serving and fixing the harmonic balancer and crankshaft pulley, first unhook the negative terminal of the battery and remove the accessory belt. Drain the cooling system first and afterward take out the radiator upper hose and the fan shroud. After that, remove the crankshaft damper bolt and use Insert 8513A and Three Jaw Puller 1023 to take out the damper. Remember to clean both the damper bore and the end of the crankshaft to avoid major harm before doing any installation work. Place the damper slide slightly on the crankshaft and then assemble Special Tool 8512-A by first threading the nut onto the shaft, adding the bearing with the hardened face up and out and finishing with the washer on the threaded rod. Place Special Tool 8512-A over the damper, then install and tighten the damper bolt to 176 Nm (129 ft. lbs.). Attach the upper hose of the radiator, put the accessory drive belt back on, fill up the cooling system and then reattach the negative cable to the battery.
