2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Parking Brake Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Parking Brake Cable on 2005 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: First, support and raise the vehicle, secure the parking brake cable at the back and then remove the adjusting nut to stretch the cable at the front. Take the front cable from the cable connector, squeeze together the cable end fitting at the underbody bracket and pull the cable away from the bracket. Put the car down on the ground and use a screwdriver to push the ball end of the cable through the pedal clevis. At the pedal bracket, place the cable end fitting in compression and lift the cable off (2). Following, take out the left cowl trim, sill plate and carpet and cut the cable from the body clip. Pull the cable up to dislodge the body grommet and take out the cable as well. Begin installation by feeding the end of the cable into the assembly hole from the vehicle, fit the other end of the cable into the pedal and click the cable ball onto the clevis at the pedal's front. Thread the wire up through the floorpan and set the body grommet, then drop the carpet and replace both the left cowl trim and sill plate. Lift up the vehicle again, insert the cable through the underbody bracket and fit the cable end fitting into the bracket before attaching it to the cable connector. After that, perform the park brake adjustment and lower the vehicle.
