2005 Dodge Stratus Oil Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Change Engine Oil and Ensure Proper Safety and Disposal with an Oil Filter on 2005 Dodge Stratus?
A: Replace the engine oil as outlined in the Maintenance Schedule by mileage and time intervals. Because new or used engine oil can irritate the skin, keep contact brief and limited to only one instance. Because the contaminants in used engine oil may pose hazards to health, wash any exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water and refrain from cleaning with gasoline, diesel fuel, thinners or solvents. Properly dispose of used engine oil by reaching out to your dealer or a government agency to learn the nearest collection center. Run the engine past its normal operating temperature, then position the vehicle on a level surface and shut off the engine. Take out the oil fill cap and then lift the vehicle onto a hoist. Position a drain pan suitable for the crankcase drain below it, then remove the drain plug and permit the oil to drip into the pan as you inspect the drain-plug threads for damage. If the drain plug or its gasket is damaged, replace them afterward and then remove the oil filter. Install and tighten the drain plug in the crankcase and then install the new oil filter. Lower the vehicle and before refitting the oil fill cap, pour the properly specified quantity of oil into the crankcase. Fire up the engine, visually confirming for leaks afterward and then shut the engine off to confirm its oil level.
