2005 Dodge Stratus Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Speed Sensor on 2005 Dodge Stratus?
A: Before servicing or repairing the sensor, first raise the car on a hoist and take off the speed sensor connector. Clean the area near the speed sensor so dirt cannot get in the transaxle when you remove it. After that, get rid of the intake speed sensor bolt and take out the speed sensor. Don't let the sensor drive gear inside the transaxle as it needs to stay with the sensor. After you have removed the speed sensor, also take off the speed sensor drive gear. To attach, set the pinion gear on the speed sensor first and then place a new O-ring back onto the speed sensor as you install it in the transaxle. Slide the bolt in and torque it to 7 Nm (60 inch lbs.). Afterward, reconnect the speed sensor wire. Afterwards, set the vehicle down and examine the speedometer to see if it works properly while driving on the road.
