2005 Jeep Wrangler Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Throttle Body on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?
A: You should remove the air cleaner tube connected to the throttle body and take off the electrical connections from the IAC motor and the TPS to start working on the throttle body. Second, take out all control cables from the throttle body lever arm, using the procedures for both the Accelerator Pedal and the Throttle Cable. Begin by disconnecting the required vacuum lines at the throttle body, then take out the three mounting bolts made for the 2.4L and finally detach the throttle body from the intake manifold. Examine the O-ring joining the throttle body to the intake manifold and change it if you find breaks in it. Wipe the connecting surfaces of the throttle body and intake manifold, then include a new O-ring between the two parts. Rejoin the throttle body to the intake manifold and reinforce it using the three mounting bolts which you should tighten to 12 N.m (105 in.lbs.) torque. At the end, place the control cables, electrical connectors, vacuum lines and the air cleaner duct onto the throttle body again.
