2005 Jeep Wrangler Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Wiper Motor on 2005 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before changing the wiper motor, first disconnect and isolate the negative lead on the battery. Undo the rear wiper arm from the rear wiper motor output shaft and then unscrew the nut fastening the liner of the output shaft to the outside of the liftglass. Then, open the rear wiper motor trim on the inside of the liftglass and remove the hardtop wire harness from the motor pigtail wire connector. Eliminate the nut holding the rear wiper motor bracket insulator to the stud on the liftglass and pull the rear wiper motor back toward the rear of the window until the output shaft's grommet passes through the rubber. Withdraw the rear wiper motor and its mounting bracket as a set and uninstall the rubber grommet attached to the liftglass output shaft hole on the car's outside. First, set the rubber grommet into the output shaft hole and ensure the arrow on the grommet matches the glass arrow during installation. Assemble the rear wiper motor inside the rear liftglass so that its output shaft fits through the rubber grommet and the mounting bracket insulator covers the stud. Put the wiper motor bracket insulator onto the stud, add the nut and washer and tighten to 6 N.m (54 in. lbs.). On the outside, fit the washer onto the rear wiper motor output shaft sleeve and screw on the nut to 5 N.m (44 in. lbs.). After that, bring the hardtop wire harness connector back into place with the motor pigtail connector, put the cover over the rear wiper motor back on and reattach the rear wiper arm to the shaft.
