2006 Chrysler Crossfire Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Vehicles with fuel rails must first release the fuel pressure because it stays there, even when the engine is off. Begin the removal by unfolding the engine cover and removing its retaining screw, then the wiring harness cover can be removed. You should put a shop towel under the fuel lines to catch any fuel that leaks out. Open the fuel rail service valve and after that disconnect the fuel feed line from the fuel rail. Take out the retaining clips holding the connector and pull the connector away from the fuel injectors. After that, remove the bolts holding the fuel rail to the intake and then slide the fuel rail a little from both sides and lift it up with the injectors. During installation, hold the fuel rail as you slide it left and right, then gently press it in towards the intake with the fuel injectors in place. Fasten the fuel rail with the bolts and tighten them to 9 N.m (80 in. lbs.). Reconnect the harness to the fuel injectors and then secure the clips over the connector points. Attach the end of the fuel feed line to the fuel rail and tighten it down to 38 N.m (28 ft. lbs.). Afterward, put back the wiring harness cover and its screw and then the engine cover.
