2006 Chrysler Pacifica Muffler Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Install a Muffler Without Damaging the Catalytic Converter on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: To disconnect the muffler, lift the car on a body contact hoist so that the rear suspension doesn't block the connection between the muffler/resonator and the rear axle. Before removing any component by rotation, apply penetrating oil to its flange and torca clamp nuts and be sure not to dent the bellows of the flex joint. Separate the resonator/muffler assembly, relive the torca clamp and pull out the muffler from the catalytic converter before you remove the unit from the vehicle. While installing, place the torca clamp onto the catalytic converter, attach the muffler inside, so the guide pin fits into its space and guide the outlet pipe from the muffler into the inlet pipe of the resonator or muffler assembly a total of 45 mm. Tap the torca clamp nut with the wrench until it reads 54 Nm, then fit the resonator/muffler assembly, check for leaking exhaust and fix any leaks that may appear. At the end, be sure the muffler and exhaust hang freely and make any changes if they contact the body parts.
