2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Injector on 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser?
A: Prior to servicing fuel injectors, press on the fuel system valve to release pressure and ensure you are not near a possible ignition source. Open the air cleaner lid, remove the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air line and after that, remove the negative battery cable. Should the engine compartment have an engine cover or throttle shield, remove it and set shop towels around hoses to catch leaking gasoline. Loosen the rail fuel supply hose, take out the Intake Manifold and remove the cables from the fuel injector electrical connectors. Then, remove the bolts securing the fuel rail, take out the entire fuel rail and injectors and finally, take the injectors off the fuel rail. During installation, add a tiny coating of clean engine oil to the O-ring on the fuel consuming end of each injector, then reposition them back into the fuel rail. Install the injectors into the openings in the intake manifold, seating them correctly and tighten down the fuel rail bolts to 12 Nm (8 ft. lbs.). Fit the electrical connectors back onto the fuel injectors, link the fuel tube to the fuel rail and install the intake manifold. If it is needed, mount the engine cover or throttle control shield, plug the negative battery cable back in, fit the air cleaner lid, link the inlet air temperature sensor and makeup air hose and fix each clamp on the air inlet tube to 3 Nm ± 1 or 25 in. lbs. torque.
