Before making repairs or service on the hood hinge, support the hood by opening it on the side you are working on. Open the hood and remove the cowl grille screen. Then, show where each hinge connects with a grease pencil or similar tool so you'll find them easily when you reinstall. After that, remove the nuts that hold the hinge to the hood and fender and take off the hinge. It works best to paint a new hinge (2) before you actually install it. Attach the hinge to the hood (1) and fender (3) using the previously marked places as a guide. Fit the nuts onto the hinge to link up the hood and the fender, turning them to a torque of 33 N.m (24 ft. lbs.). After finishing the grille, install the cowl grille screen, check if the hood fits perfectly and is aligned with the fenders and make sure there are small 4 mm (0160 in.) gaps to the body panels on top.
