2006 Chrysler Sebring Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Exhaust Manifold on 2006 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before handling the exhaust manifold, take off the negative battery cable and raise the car using a hoist. Remove the entire exhaust system and after that, disconnect the rear engine mount and transaxle bracket. Then, get rid of the exhaust manifold heat shield and break the electrical attachment of the oxygen sensor connector. Take out the fasteners securing the exhaust manifold and remove the manifold, leftover gasket is discarded. Make sure to wipe down all parts of the manifold and cylinder head, including the removal of any gasket if you have it. Examine the gaskets on the manifold using a straight edge and check they are not more than 0.15 mm (0.006 in.) from being completely flat across 300 mm (1 foot) of its length and also look for cracks or bends in the manifold while testing. During installation, place a new gasket on the head without using adhesive, slot in the exhaust manifold and tighten all the bolts in the appropriate order till they reach 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.), repeating this for all the fasteners. After that, place the heat shield on the exhaust manifold, link up the oxygen sensor connector and install the rear engine mount and transaxle bracket. Connect the exhaust system, tighten its attachments to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), lower the car and connect the negative battery cable last.
