2005 Chrysler Sebring Exhaust Manifold Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Exhaust Manifold on 2005 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before servicing or repairing the exhaust manifold, take the battery cable off and lift the car on a hoist. Take off the entire exhaust system and then remove the engine mount and transaxle bracket at the back. If you have a connector tube, squeeze it and pull it off the check valve. After that, detach the exhaust manifold heat shield and disconnect the wire from the oxygen sensor. Disconnect the nuts or bolts that hold the exhaust manifold and then remove the manifold, throwing away the gasket. Clean each surface of the manifold and cylinder head, inspect the gasket surface on the manifold for flatness and check for any cracks or distortion, changing the manifold when necessary. To install, place a new exhaust manifold gasket on the head and do not use sealer, place the exhaust manifold and tighten screws in the right order for non-PZEV engines to 17 foot lbs. or for PZEV engines to the same torque. Attach the exhaust manifold heat shield once you have it and if there is a check valve, set its bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.). Attach the connector tube to the check valve, link the oxygen sensor wiring once more and place the rear engine mount and transaxle bracket back. Then, attach the exhaust system by fastening it with a torque wrench set to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.), bring the vehicle down on the stands and plug back in the negative battery cable.
