2006 Dodge Dakota Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Oil Filter on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before anything else, put a drain pan underneath the oil filter. After choosing the right kind of oil filter wrench, unscrew the filter counterclockwise until it can be easily taken out. Tip the filter end upwards facing the sky when the filter separates, take out the filter and check that the gasket sticks on the filter. Use a wipe to clean off the oil and grime from the gasket's sealing surface. When putting in the filter, first rub oil on the gasket, then carefully twist the filter over the adapter nipple. While the gasket touches the sealing area, use your hand to turn the filter one time without over tightening. Also, put in oil, check the level in the crankcase and run the engine to check for leaks.
