When working or repairing the control assembly, first cut off the air bag system by removing and isolating the negative battery cable, ensuring you wait two minutes for any residual charge built up in the air bag system capacitor. Let's start by removing the negative battery cable. Followed by this, take the center bezel out of the instrument panel and hold it on your workbench. If the ATC system is in the vehicle, cut the two data wires at the infrared sensor connector in the back of the A/C-heater control. Remove the six screws holding the A/C-heater control in place at the back of the center bezel and get the control out. Place the control into the center bezel of the instrument panel, attach it using the six included screws and tighten them to 2 N.m (17 in. lb.). Reconnect the infrared sensor connector to the A/C-heater control if you have the ATC heating-A/C system. Then, fitting the center bezel to the instrument panel, connect the negative battery cable and calibrate the A/C-heater control.
