2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Blower Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Blower Motor Under the Passenger Side Instrument Panel on 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Make sure to disable the air bag system first by removing and isolating the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the air bag system capacitor to stop holding charge. Remove the panel on the passenger side cowl and place the carpet to get to the screw holding the air inlet housing to the underside. Take out the recirculation door actuator and cut the blower motor wire lead free from the blower motor resistor or power module, whichever is needed. Remove a screw at the top and four more from the bottom that connect the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing and the lower HVAC housing. Lengthen the rubber grommet with a screwdriver, put it through the opening in the housing, send the lead from the blower motor through the opening, then remove the lower air inlet housing from the vehicle. Unlock the recirculation-air door, remove the three screws and then flex the door downward to lift and remove the blower motor in the HVAC housing, keeping a note of where the mounting tabs are for when you reinstall the motor. Open the recirculation-air door, put the blower motor into position inside the HVAC and snap its mounting pins over the screws, tightening the screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Take the wire lead from the blower fan motor around the opening in the bottom air inlet cover and apply the rubber stopper to it, after that add and join the rest of the lower air inlet housing part. Attach the lower air inlet housing to the engine block using its four bottom screws, tightening them to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.) and then secure the top screw in the same way. Attach the wire lead from the blower motor to the blower motor resistor or power module, put in the recirculation door actuator, align the carpet, put back the cowl panel on the passenger side, hook up the negative battery cable and do the heater-A/C control calibration procedure.
