2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Speed Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Speed Sensor on the Front Wheel on 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Removing the tire and wheel from the vehicle which should be raised, is the first thing you must do to repair the front wheel speed sensor. Following this, take away both sensor cable routing clamp screws, but do not pull on the connector pins when unplugging the sensor from the vehicle harness. Kick out the speed sensor cable grommets from the intermediate bracket on the strut and unplug the speed sensor cable from the electrical wire at the rear of the fender well shield. Once you are done, take out the bolt that holds the sensor head on the steering knuckle and take the sensor head out of the knuckle. Should corrosion block the use of the sensor, stay clear of using pliers; use a hammer and punch instead to tap at the edge of the sensor ear, helping it to rock back and forth. Once the old sensor is out, connect the new cable to the connector on the vehicle wiring harness. Be sure the cable is well locked in. Mount the bolts for the holding clamps to the interior of the vehicle body and tighten them to 14 Nm (125 inch lbs.). Place the two speed sensor cable grommets into the intermediate bracket on the strut. Once there, attach the wheel speed sensor head to its mounting bolt and tighten it to the specified torque of 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.). Once done, attach the wheel and tire once again, lower the automobile and check the base and ABS brake systems while on the road.
