2006 Dodge Magnum Air Bag Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Unused Passenger Air Bag on 2006 Dodge Magnum?
A: When working on an air bag that has not deployed, release the negative battery cable, wait two minutes to allow the reserve capacitor to empty and disconnect that cable as well. Take out the pad beneath the right side silencer and the glove box assembly. Subsequently, remove both inboard screws from next to the passenger air bag housing and the two outboard screws underneath the distribution duct. Both the bolts securing the passenger air bag mount to the main frame and the electric connector must be removed. Be careful when moving the passenger air bag down so it doesn't hit anything during removal. Before installing, make certain the passenger air bag is properly positioned up above the instrument panel, to avoid any obstacles. Set the passenger into the opening in the air bag door and then insert the two bolts on the cross car beam into the air bag, tightening them to 11.6 N.m (103 in. lbs.). After connecting the passenger air bag electrical connector, screw the two passenger air bag mounting screws in just below the distribution duct and to the left of the distribution housing, making sure not to tighten them more than 2.8 N.m (25 in. lbs.). Add the outboard mounting screws to the passenger air bag under the distribution duct and tighten them to 2.8 N.m (25 in. lbs.). Eventually, fit the glove box back into position and also fit the right side silencer pad. Make sure the system test is done before you attach the battery negative cable to prevent risks to yourself.
