How to Service and Repair an Exhaust Manifold on 2006 Dodge Magnum?

Start by removing the negative battery cable in the trunk and afterward, disconnect the upstream oxygen sensor. Lift the car and take the EGR tube away from both the EGR valve and the manifold. Remove the electrical plug connected to the downstream oxygen sensor and take off the exhaust pipe from the manifold. Take out the heat shields above and below, next remove all the manifold bolts and then remove the manifold. Examine the exhaust manifolds for any damage or cracks, check that the manifolds are level and check the gasket between the manifold and the head for changes or damage. Inspect for bends in the cylinder head mounting surface using a straightedge and a thickness gauge. First, set the exhaust manifold gasket and manifold in place. Tighten the bolts from the center to the edge with a force of 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). Connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold and place both heat shields once again. Fix the oxygen sensor and then connect both its electrical connector and the connector for the downstream sensor. Place the vehicle back down, attach the EGR tube with updated gaskets, screw them until they reach 11 Nm (95 inch lbs.) and plug in the negative battery cable last.
