Start by opening the trunk, taking out the car's negative
Battery Cable and removing the upstream
Oxygen Sensor first. Lift the vehicle, remove the
EGR Tube from the
EGR Valve and the manifold. Remove the electrical connector on the downstream oxygen sensor and take off the exhaust pipe from the manifold. Pull out the upper and lower heat shields, then turn the bolts holding the manifold to remove it. Look at the exhaust manifolds to see if they are cracked or damaged, make sure the manifold is flat and check the gasket of the exhaust manifold to see if it has discolored or changed shape. Check whether there are any warps on the mounting surface of the cylinder head using a straightedge and thickness gauge. To install, first put on the exhaust manifold gasket and manifold, then tighten the bolts in the center and then move outward to 23 Nm (200 inch lbs.). After that, reconnect the exhaust pipe to the manifold and then attach both heat shields. Place and secure the oxygen sensor and then attach the electrical connector. Then attach the electrical connector of the downstream oxygen sensor. Lift the vehicle back up and connect the EGR tube using new gaskets, tightening the screws to 11 Nm (95 inch lbs.). After that, connect the negative battery cable.
