Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2006 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before servicing or repairing the intake manifold, first remove the negative cable from the battery, then disconnect the resonator and air inlet hose. Unplug the throttle and speed control cables, plus all the electric connectors for the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor, Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor, Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor. Subsequently, take off the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose and later remove both the generator and air conditioning compressor electrical connections. Uninstall the left and right radio suppressor straps, ignition coil towers and the retaining bolt and ground strap on the top oil dipstick. Bleed the fuel system first, then come out the fuel rail, throttle body assembly and mounting bracket. Open the drain below the cooling system and allow it to level out before the coolant, disconnect the hoses from the engine front cover and heater core, remove their clips from the intake manifold and take out the coolant temperature sensor. Loosen and remove the intake fasteners in the opposite order you put them on, then take out the intake manifold. Position the intake manifold gaskets first, then connect the intake manifold and use retaining bolts to tighten the manifold by 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) according to the manual's steps. Install the two suppressor straps, then the throttle body and plug the control cables onto the throttle body. Attach the fuel rail and ignition coil towers, line up and secure the various heater hoses and tubes to the intake manifold and join the heater hoses to the heater core and the engine front cover. Attach the wiring connectors to the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, ignition coil towers and fuel injectors. After that, screw in the top oil dipstick tube retaining bolt and attach the ground strap, connect the generator cables, link the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and PCV hose, top up the cooling system, reconnect the resonator assembly and air inlet hose and link the negative battery cable.
