Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Remove the negative battery cable and afterward, take off the resonator and air inlet hose to service and repair the intake manifold. Later, detach the throttle, speed control and electrical connectors for the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor, Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor, Throttle Position (TPS) Sensor, Coolant Temperature (CTS) Sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) Motor. You should then disconnect the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose, Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose and remove the electrical connections to the generator and air conditioning compressor. Eliminate the straps on the left and right radio suppressors, remove the coil towers and disconnect the bolt and ground strap on the top oil dipstick tube. After bleeding the fuel system, take out the fuel rail, throttle body assembly and bracket next. Drain the cooling system after the coolant is cold, remove the heater hoses at the engine's front and core, pull away the heater hoses and tubes from the intake manifold and remove the coolant temperature sensor. Take out the intake manifold retaining fasteners in the reverse of the tightening order, then free the intake manifold. Put the gaskets first, then the intake manifold when installing it. Place and tighten the intake manifold retaining bolts to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.) in the correct order. After that, install both radio suppressor straps and fasten the throttle body. Move on to connect the throttle and speed control cables to the throttle body. Install the fuel rail and ignition coil towers, after which you place and connect the heater hoses and tubes on the intake manifold to the heater core and the engine cover. Reply connect the wires for the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, ignition coil towers and fuel injectors. Then, set the top oil dipstick tube retaining bolt, install the ground strap, attach the generator electrical connections, connect the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and PCV hose, fill up the cooling system, install the resonator assembly and air inlet hose and anchor the negative cable to the battery.
