2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is a Shock Absorber Installed on 2006 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: To install the shock absorber, first replace the upper shock nut or grease the current nut with Mopar Lock 'N Seal or Loctite 242. First, put the lower retainer and grommet onto the shock absorber stud and insert the shock into the frame bracket's hole. After that, use the lower bolts and tighten them to 35 Nm (25 ft. lbs.). After the washer, insert the upper grommet, then the retainer (2) and either a new nut or the treated nut on the shock absorber stud. With tool 9362 (1), torque the nut until you reach 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.). When everything is ready, take the support off the lower control arm outboard end and drop the car to its proper position.
