Raise the vehicle, lift it and secure the axle before performing shock service. Since the rear upper shock uses a flag nut, never use an air tool to remove the bolt; the flag could end up in the bottom of the bed and damage it, so manually hold the nut and turn the bolt counterclockwise. Service Shock and Strut Replacement For installation, slot the shock absorber (3) into the brackets, use the bolts to secure it through these points and insert a nut on top bolt and on the lower bolt also. Fasten the upper and lower bolt/nuts to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.), take out the support and let the vehicle down.
