2006 Dodge Ram 3500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Hose on 2006 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Before starting A/C suction line service or repair, recover the refrigerant from the system and disconnect the negative battery cable. Unclip the air filter cover and grab the nut holding the A/C suction line to the A/C compressor. Remove the A/C suction line from the compressor and discard both the O-ring and dual plane seal, after that cover the opened refrigerant line fitting and compressor port using plugs or tape. Remove the secondary retaining clip near the spring-lock coupler holding the A/C suction line to the A/C accumulator. Then, unhook the A/C suction line from the A/C accumulator with the correct A/C disconnect tool and toss out any O-rings from it. Again, first tape or install plugs in the open suction line fitting and the accumulator outlet tube and then take the A/C suction line from the engine compartment. When installing, place the A/C suction line into the engine compartment and take away any tape or plugs from the opened parts on both lines. Apply some clean refrigerant oil to an O-ring and a dual plane seal and attach them to the suction line fitting using only seats made of the right material and the recommended refrigerant oil for the system and compressor. Join the suction tubing to the compressor end of the A/C and attach it with the right nut, but tighten it only to 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.). After cleaning out the suction line, put the tape or plugs aside, add clean refrigerant oil to new O-rings and place them on the accumulator tube fitting. Attach the A/C suction line to the spring-lock coupler on the accumulator and put in the secondary retaining clip. After that, attach the air filter housing cover, secure the negative battery cable, remove all the refrigerant from the system and add refrigerant according to instructions.
