Before you install the suction line to a 5.7L engine, be sure to check the refrigerant oil to avoid harm to the
A/C Compressor. If many A/C system parts need replacing, check the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart for how much oil to add. Each time you remove a refrigerant line, remember to replace its O-ring seals and gaskets. First, take off any plugs or tape from the ports on the suction line, compressor and accumulator. Before installing, rub clean oil on new rubber O-ring seals, designed for R-134a and attach them onto the accumulator tube fitting, using only those O-ring seals and the proper refrigerant oil recommended for your A/C compressor. Couple the A/C suction line (6) to the spring-lock coupler (1) on the A/C accumulator (5), then put in the secondary retaining clip (7). Grease a fresh rubber O-ring seal and a gasket with clean refrigerant oil, fit them both onto the suction line fitting and attach the A/C suction line (2) to the A/C compressor (6). Cover the A/C suction line and bolt it to the A/C compressor by turning the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Attach the retaining bracket (3) to hold the A/C suction line (2) against the A/C liquid line (1) and secure both bracket and line in front of the engine. Place the housing cover over the air filter, attach the negative
Battery Cable, empty any refrigerant and set the refrigerant oil as needed.
