2005 Dodge Ram 3500 A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Hose in an HVAC System on 2005 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: First, empty the refrigerant from the system to service the A/C liquid line and make sure to remove the negative battery cable. If the car has a diesel engine, take out the passenger side battery, but if it has a gasoline engine, you'll need to remove the air filter housing. Then, get rid of the plastic shield off the condenser outlet and remove the nut anchoring the A/C liquid line's front section to the condenser. Detach the liquid pipe from the condenser and throw away the seal, afterwards disconnect it from the holding clips on the body. remove the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler and use the correct A/C line disconnect tool to part the liquid line, then throw out the seal. Plug the opening on the low-side line for the A/C refrigerant and the condenser outlet, then remove the front part of the unit from inside the engine compartment. While installing, insert the front end of the A/C liquid line into the engine compartment and take out any tape or caps which may be blocking it. Apply clean oil to a new R-134a seal before putting it onto the front liquid line spring-lock coupler fitting. Attach the front part of the liquid line to its rear section and install the auxiliary retaining clip as the next step. Install the A/C liquid line into the body retaining clips, put some oil on a fresh seal and fit it on the front liquid line fitting before connecting that to the outlet on the A/C condenser. Bind the A/C liquid line to the condenser with a nut, but tighten it only to 20 N.m. After that, cover the condenser outlet stud with a plastic piece, then, reassemble the air filter housing if necessary or install the passenger battery tray, attach the cable(s) back to the negative battery terminal, empty the system and charge it with refrigerant.
