2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain a Washer Pump on 2006 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: The very first thing to do is to disconnect the black battery negative cable to service the windshield washer pump. Squeeze the drain hose on the barbed outlet nipple 8 of the washer pump/motor unit, so the wash fluid can be drained and reused. Pull the right headlamp and dash wire harness connector out of the washer pump/motor unit connector receptacle 1. The pump/motor housing is attached at the top. Hold it and pull it out lightly to remove the snap post 2 from the receptacle 3 below. Withdraw the washer pump or motor unit out from the reservoir to unhook the barbed pump inlet nipple 7 from the grommet seal 4 inside the reservoir, then remove the unit and throw out the grommet seal. To fit the pump, insert a new grommet seal 4 into the hole in the washer reservoir 6 where the mount goes. Insert 7 of the barbed inlet nipple on the pump into the reservoir's rubber grommet seal and press carefully until it is flush with the edge of the seal. Put snap post 2 into the hole at the top of the pump motor and push it until it snaps into the post hole 3 in the washer reservoir. Reattach the reservoir washer hose to the barbed pump outlet nipple 8 and link the right headlamp and dash wire harness connector with the washer pump/motor unit connector 1. Replace the failed battery's dedicated negative connection, add your washer fluid in the reservoir and close its cover.
