2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500 Timing Chain Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Safely Remove and Install a Timing Chain Without Damaging the Engine on 2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500?
A: When removing the timing chain, first remove the cylinder head cover while covering the timing chain area to keep debris out of the engine. Following this, place specialist tool # 9525 over the cylinder head cover using two of the standard bolts. Put components #93123 and #93124 into special tool #93121, then add insert #931213 and secure it with the given screw. You should always take care to avoid the timing chain plates getting into the engine during the procedure. Before anchoring special tool 93121, release or back off nut 3123 of thrust pin number 9312 until it is nested inside spindle 9312. Tighten screw thrust spindle #9312-4 until it fits well and lines over the timing chain rivet, so that the thrust pin is at the left end of a chain link. Attach special tool #9312 to the timing chain link and ensure you keep the timing chain area covered to prevent anything from contaminating the engine. Using the clockwise handle, turn special tool #93121, turning the thrust pin #93123 until the chain is separated and the loose link and plates are discarded. A whole link on the timing chain needs to come out and be careful not to let anything fall into the engine. Ensure the new timing chain fits over the old timer chain's oil holes with the assembly link, assembly plate and locking element kept securely. It is very important to install the timing chain using the specified instructions, because not doing so correctly may lead to costly engine damage.
