Begin by detaching the battery negative cable, removing the engine and cylinder head and making sure not to damage the oil pan gasket while removing the timing case cover. Take the tensioning rail off the bearing pins and then free the spring from the slide rail. After moving the intermediate gear over, disconnect the negative
Battery Cable once more, lift off the engine cover and check for any fire dangers. Take off the fuel high-pressure lines and injectors, wipe down the injectors and take away the cylinder head cover. After you lock the inlet
Camshaft with a locking pin, pull out the
Timing Chain Tensioner, then remove the cylinder head front cover, top slide rail and high-pressure pump. Before removing the camshaft sprocket, mark where it stands relative to the timing chain, unbolt it from the exhaust camshaft and fasten it with a tie on the timing chain. Eliminate the intermediate gear and the bushing while performing the maintenance. Before handling the timing chain tensioning rail, disconnect the negative battery cable, take out the cylinder head and cover and remove the rail from the bearing pin. Removal of the cylinder head cover, vacuum pump, low-pressure
Fuel Pump and drive and guide rail is required, followed by taking off the timing chain tensioner, doing it while covering the timing case recess. Tie the bottom edge of the timing chain to the camshaft sprocket with straps and then take off the camshaft sprocket along with the attached timing chain. Separate the timing chain with tools #8948 and #8950 so the thrust pin does not move out of place. Fit the camshaft sprocket and timing chain onto the camshaft, remove the timing chain pin from the separation tool and place special tool 8931 above the cylinder head. Install the new timing chain on the old chain by using a link, plate and a lock, so that the new chain stays meshed with the camshaft sprocket. Starter motor the engine at the crankshaft to introduce the chain into its new position, remove the parts in the assembly and attach the timing chain to the camshaft sprocket. Clamp the middle plate and riveted link onto the timing chain ends, use the riveting tool and press in the new riveted link. Align the change-in inserts and screw them in tightly with the riveting tool, until the resistance you feel is sturdy. Review the condition of the rivets and set any loose ones, next set the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft chain and bolt it securely at 18 Nm. Remove the tie straps, put in the guide rail, tighten the fuel pump drive to 50 Nm with a torque wrench and add in the pump, timing chain tensioner, vacuum pump, cylinder head cover and cover for the engine. Before turning on the engine, reattach the negative battery cable and look close enough to see if there are any fuel system leaks.
