2006 Dodge Stratus Power Steering Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose on 2006 Dodge Stratus?
A: First, turn off the engine, let the power steering, engine parts and exhaust system cool and only then start service or repair work on the power steering supply hose. Cap the ends of each hose, fitting and port to ensure they aren't contaminated. To start, pull out the ground cable connected to the left shock tower and put it through an isolator. Remove as much fluid from the reservoir as possible, unscrew the reservoir from the engine coolant bottle and lift it free of the guide. Second, take off the hose clamp that holds the supply hose to the reservoir, detach the hose and remove the clamp and hose from the supply fitting on the pump. Remove the old hose and connect the replacement hose to the fitting at the power steering pump. Finally, secure it with a clamp in a position past the upset bead. Followed by that, affix the supply hose to the reservoir, secure it with a clamp and tighten everything carefully. Align the reservoir in its slot and fix it with the screw. Tighten it by hand until you reach 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.). Reattach the remote battery ground cable to the left shock tower ground stud, add power steering fluid up to the correct line, run the engine for a little while and then turn it off. Recharge the reservoir to the proper level, then go on to complete the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation procedure, watching for leaks.
