2006 Dodge Stratus Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Power Steering Pump on 2006 Dodge Stratus?
A: Make sure the engine is not running and check the fluid. Don't use any other type of fluid and make sure not to overfill. Remove dirt from the reservoir fill cap, place fluid in the reservoir to match the "Fill Range," and do so at a temperature of about 21°C to 27°C (70°F to 80°F). Let the oil levels settle for at least two minutes and only then start the engine to let it run for a few seconds before shutting it. If what you're doing so far isn't enough, add more fluid and run the engine to see if the fluid level remains the same. Raise the front wheels, start the engine, guide the steering wheel both right and left, light as though just feeling the wheel stops and change the steering fluid as necessary. After moving the vehicle to normal height, turn the steering wheel gently from lock to lock and after switching off, check the fluid in the pit. Should the fluid form a very foamy layer, stop the procedure and let the vehicle stand for a short time before trying again.
