First, remove the negative
Battery Cable and place it somewhere to isolate it. Siphon all the power steering fluid you can from the reservoir and then take off the fitting where the supply hose meets the pump. Lift the car and get rid of the accessory drive splash shield. Separate the power steering fluid pressure hose from its connection at the pump fitting and pull away the oxygen sensor harness and clip from the pump heat shield. Take out the bolt from the slot of the stamped pump adjuster bracket, then remove the power steering
Drive Belt. Shut the motor off and turn the pumpftThis process opens Remove the three bolts joining the cast power steering pump bracket to the engine and pull the pump, pulley and brackets as a group through the opening between the frame rail and right driveshaft. Afterward, remove the bolts holding the stamped adjuster bracket to the pump, then take out the bracket to remove the two pivot bolts that connect the cast mounting bracket to the pump. Uninstalling the pulley should be done using the same process used to take apart the car. When installing, if the cast mounting bracket is missing, insert it, align it correctly and tighten the two pivot bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Should you remove the stamped adjuster bracket, put it back onto the pump with its bolts, then tighten those bolts to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Assemble the power steering pump, pulley and brackets back into the vehicle, repeating the order to take them out. Screw the three bolts attaching the cast pump mounting bracket to the engine so that the torque is 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). Slide the bolt through the stamped bracket slowly and into the cast bracket slot. Wipe away residue from all pump connections and open steering hose ends using a lint-free cloth. First, set the power steering pump drive belt on the pulley, then use a 1/2 inch breaker bar to make changes in the square adjusting hole of the front bracket. Fix the brake calipers in place by tightening the adjusting slot bolt to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) when the right tension is achieved. Attach a new O-ring around the power steering pressure hose fitting, then apply clean power steering fluid, slide it into the pump connection and tighten the nut to 31 Nm (275 inch lbs.). Place the accessory drive splash shield, set the vehicle on the ground and link the power steering supply hose to the pump fitting before securing it with a new clamp on the upset bead. Now, put back the battery wire to the negative post, ensure the power steering tank is filled and run the Power Steering Pump Initial Operation step. Finally, make sure there aren't any leaks at each hose connection and at the power steering pump.
