  A: Begin the rear door striker service and repair by leaving a mark on the C-pillar around where you will install the latch striker. Disconnect the door latch striker from the C-pillar by unscrewing the bolts and then bring the door latch striker out of the car. Make sure the C-pillar shims are present; if so, you must install them with the new door latch striker so the door opens and closes safely. When installing, put the door latch striker and any shims in place on the vehicle, now install just the loose screws that hold the latch striker to the C-pillar. Bring the latch striker above the same marks you marked on the C-pillar previously and then tighten all of the screws. In addition, see if the door fits as it should and operates smoothly and adjust the latch striker if needed.
