2006 Jeep Commander Cruise Control Servo Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Install and Connect the Cruise Control Servo in the Engine Compartment on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: The speed control servo assembly attaches to a cross-support inside the engine area of the plane. Take out the negative battery cable at the battery first, then disconnect the servo's vacuum line and electric connector. Take out the bolt holding the servo bracket and separate the servo lead from the throttle body. After that, take out the two mounting nuts holding the servo cable sleeve to the bracket and then pull the speed control cable sleeve and servo away to reveal and remove the clip retaining the cables. Remove the servo from its mounting, making sure to remember how it was placed before you did so. To install, rest the servo onto the mounting bracket and line up the hole on the cable connector with the hole on the servo shaft. After that, install the cable-to-servo retaining clip. Pass the servo mounting studs through the mounting bracket holes and then install and tighten the two nuts. Place the servo assembly on the cross-support and mount the assembly with a bolt which you should tighten securely. After that, reconnect the vacuum line and the electrical connector at the servo. Attach the servo cable to the throttle body. Next, attach the negative battery cable to the battery again and after you've started the engine, press the accelerator pedal to examine for binding.
