Q: How to Remove and Reinstall a Radiator on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Before getting rid of the radiator, disconnect the negative battery cable and open the radiator cap to allow the engine to cool, so you don't get hurt by the hot coolant in the system. Unscrew the lower seal on the condenser from the support underneath and drain the coolant into a clean dry container. After that, unclip the hose between the tank and radiator and dispose of the ones from the top and bottom of the hose. Should your vehicle come equipped, disconnect the automatic cooler lines and then take out the radiator mounting bolts, putting the front axle vent hose aside. Be careful when removing the radiator, match the rubber seals on the top and bottom of the radiator so they go back in place during installation. To clean the radiator fins, spray them with cold water and use compressed air to flush out the debris and inspect the cooling fins and the two plastic end tanks for any bends, scratches or cracks. First, place the radiator, then tighten the mounting bolts to 8 Nm, drain the radiator and replace the two located items along with their bolts. Put the automatic transmission fluid cooler lines back together if you have them, link the radiator hoses and clamps, insert the lower seal onto the condenser, reattach the negative cable to the battery, fill the system with the proper coolant, join the coolant recovery bottle hose, install the radiator cap and check the automatic transmission fluid level if you have it. Fasten all rubber air seals to their original places before inserting the radiator and fan shroud into the car, inserting the alignment dowels into the rubber grommets. Link the hangers for the upper and lower hoses and attach the hose clamps, make certain the tangs are correctly placed downwards, fit the reserve/overflow tank hose, link back both transmission cooler lines, mount in the radiator bolts, reconnect the electric cooler fan, fit the grill back and secure the fan to the engine, checking that the fan shroud will not come into contact with the blades by manually rotating the fan blades. After that, top off the coolant, reconnect the cable going to the battery, start and warm up the engine and check for any leaks.
