2007 Chrysler Aspen Shift Cable Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How is the Shift Cable Installed on 2007 Chrysler Aspen?
A: Bring the transmission end (1) of the gearshift cable through the hole in the dash panel and then fit the cable grommet (2) into the opening. Place the cable into the steering column bracket (1) so that the retaining ears click into place, then attach the cable eyelet to the ball stud that can be seen on the shift lever. With the car jacked up and the manual lever moved to PARK, turn the prop shaft to see that the transmission is has stopped. If your vehicle has RLE transmission, put the gearshift cable (1) through the transmission mounting bracket (2) and hold it securely by snapping the cable retaining ears into the bracket and fastening the cable eyelet to the manual shift lever (3) ball stud. Use the same method of routing and securing RFE transmission trucks as you do for shortwave. Press the lock tab (3) on the cable adjuster all the way down and let go until you hear a click. After that, check the working condition of the transmission range sensor and adjust the shift cable when needed.
